In the final book in the Boomer’s Tales series, Leaving No Bones Unturned, there are two stories. The stories revolve around a Japanese American family who move to New Hope. The Moritas and their daughter, Kiko, move to New Hope when Mr. Morita has the chance to buy a strip mall. Kiko wants to become an Olympic swimmer one day and swims on the New Hope Elementary team.
Here’s an excerpt from Chapter 5.
When Chloe went in, she left the door open. “Nana, I had a dream. It c-came in a poem like the ones when Hoppy and Mr. Brown’s wife’s painting disappeared.
“Why don’t you crawl into bed and tell it to me.”
A p-piece of torn clothing has just been found.
It lies buried in a dry space under the ground.
A possible clue, it may lead to who and when
Might s-strike Morita Cry Cleaners once again.
Letters on the scrap of cloth could save the day,
If we f-find it in time to keep the intruders away.
This book emphasizes learning to be brave, overcoming obstacles, and friendship, which are characteristics of all 6 books.
